The Midea AC U – Recall Alert – DANGIT.
Arghhh. I just got my Midea AC unit from Amazon a few months ago and installed it myself. The install was so easy.

When I got my bonus earlier this year, I knew for sure that I needed to get an AC, but not a Mr.Cool. No sir, that will run me over $5000, easy, not to mention, the installing. Ugh, I needed something cheap, something that would work well, and be somewhat easy to look at. My mind wandered back to the Mr. Cool units I’d seen while pursuing online. But no, not until I’m closer to selling my home.
If I’ve envisioned my space correctly, the back room which holds my prized compromise, will one day be the place that I entertain my loved ones, complete with a budget appropriate cloud couch, one similar to the couch at Restoration Hardware, but better on my wallet. I still need my wall repaired, said couch, and a few entertainment systems (i.e. a shiny new switch 2 complete with Mario Kart world and Pokemon Z-A, Netflix and the like). But that AC is prohibitive – man, my HVAC unit went out a few years back and summers in GA are hot, but not so hot that you can’t make it without a ceiling fan and a cracked window. My Manecoons would probably beg to differ, but not too much. One is lazing in the sun on my 2nd bedroom windowsill as we speak, the high today is about 90 degrees. This might be because I have this stunner, Midea U, 12000 BTU unit running about 800 feet away. It definitely meets my needs, not only that, it has an amazing Energy Star rating – I never pay more than a dollar a day for the unit to run for more than 12 HRS STRAIGHT.

Wow, I know this is probably hard for the company to deal with (also, if you read the recall, there are many other brands that they make and they are also on the list). I won’t be returning mine but I do plan to sign up for them to come out and service the unit – if you read the strategist like I do, you will see what types of issues the units are experiencing and it is concerning, but I think that it will be fine if you get the appropriate servicing done. Even Business Insider wrote about this recall.
Check the unit out here. Make up your own mind, at least the company is doing good by trying to fix this issue.
